SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a private university in Poland affiliated with the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology and the Institute of Psychology, Polish Academy of Sciences. SWPS was founded in 1996 by Andrzej Eliasz, Zbigniew Pietrasiński and Janusz Reykowski, former professors of the Institute of Psychology at the Polish Academy of Sciences. SWPS is one of the largest private universities in Poland. It consists of eight faculties in five cities (Warsaw, Wrocław, Sopot, Poznań and Katowice). It has about 13,500 full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students. SWPS was ranked by the Polish website Perspektywy as the second-best private college with master degree programs in Poland in 2010 (out of 96 institutions).
Over 15 000 students are enrolled in interdisciplinary degree programs. We offer full-time and extramural undergraduate and graduate programs in Psychology, Modern Languages, Cultural Studies, Journalism and Social Communication, Sociology, Law, Internal Security, International Relations, Management and Design. SWPS is the only private university in Poland that has been granted the right to award post-doctoral degrees in Psychology and Cultural Studies and PhD degrees in Psychology, Sociology, Cultural Studies and Law.
Our offer also includes a wide range of non-degree programs such as weekend trainings and numerous tailor-made training schemes. We organize cycles of scientific and cultural events that are open to the public. Our institution values considerable debates and fruitful discussions, and this is why we often host world-recognized scientists, well-known artists and representatives of the mass media. Those who want to master their language competence are more than welcome to join English Preparatory School and Polish Preparatory School, the programs that give them an opportunity to improve their English and Polish under the supervision of highly qualified teachers.
Our students have an opportunity to expand their horizons by not only deriving knowledge from prominent people, but also by going abroad as part of exchange programs that we offer. We run exchange programs with institutions located in Europe, Turkey, Asia, and America.
